July 17, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host 1&1 Internet Inc. (http://www.1and1.com) now supports iPhone 3G email, it was announced recently. The company, which bills itself as “the world's largest web host by known servers” will support iPhone 3G through its 1&1 Microsoft Exchange services. The new offering will enable iPhone users to access real-time, synchronized emails, appointments and contacts.
iPhone users will have to upgrade to iPhone 2.0 software to access 1&1's professional communications suite, meaning users of the first iPhones can also use the service. The solution caters for email addresses from other providers and accounts can be synchronized with Windows Mobile smartphones.
"Particularly for small enterprises, 1&1 Microsoft Exchange is a genuine alternative to a dedicated server, and at a fraction of the cost," explained 1&1 Internet’s CEO, Oliver Mauss. "The iPhone, with its outstanding user concept, has gained many excited followers across the world in a short time. 1&1 Microsoft Exchange is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution based upon Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. The service offers a 1 GB Exchange account, and group functionality tools including public calendars, contacts, discussions and task management. Those purchasing the solution receive a free Microsoft Outlook 2007 license.
