Web Host 1&1 Upgrades Virtual Private Servers and adds Windows Server 2008 to Green Dedicated Servers
November 28, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host 1&1 has upgraded its Virtual Private Servers (VPS) offerings and added Windows Server 2008 to its “green” dedicated servers, it was announced recently. The company, which bills itself as “the world's largest web host by known servers”, has quadrupled RAM quotas for Windows VPS and doubled quotas on all Linux VPS. 1&1’s Windows VPS packages now offer at least 512 MB of guaranteed RAM and Linux VPS at least 256 MB of RAM with up to 4 GB of “burstable” RAM to cater for unpredictable traffic spikes.
The company’s move comes after a series of initiatives introduced by the company. These include the addition of a new “premium” range of dedicated servers in September and the introduction of Windows Server 2008 for dedicated server offerings. The company also recently announced that its 55,000 square foot datacenter has been “green-certified” by Green-e, in cooperation with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
