The Philadelphia-based company’s promotion will last the holiday season and see substantial reductions in .biz domain name prices, alongside a discount on servers for the first year. According to the company, the move is designed to help increase the exposure of SMBs on the Internet as the holiday season approaches.
The company cites a recent report by Jupiter Research entitled “US Online Retail Holiday Forecast, 2007”, which suggests online holiday sales will grow to over $39 billion in 2007 (an increase of 20% on the previous year) with 126 million shoppers (an increase of 6%) buying goods online. According to 1&1 Internet, to capitalize on the influx of holiday shoppers, SMBs must “maximize their online presence by establishing a professional and attractive website”.
1&1 Internet cites another survey showing that in a survey of 25,000 SMBs, 70% were seen to have experienced an “increase in sales revenue within the 12 months following the launch of their website”. In a related move, the company is offering 40% off its Business Hosting package.
