September 6, 2008 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Cloud computing technology and utility computing provider, 3Tera, Inc. (http://www.3tera.com) has launched Global Cloud Services, it was announced this week. The services are based on 3Tera's AppLogic grid operating system and a response to demand from multi-national customers and customers outside the United States. To facilitate the services the company has partnered with organizations on four continents that will provide redundant online resources worldwide alongside the companys existing partners running in datacenters in seven countries (United States, Japan, Singapore, Argentina, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Serbia) on four continents (North America, South American, Asia, and Europe). The company will also benefit from upcoming resources in South America and Australia.
3Teras perspective is that on-demand services offered through single datacenters lack many of the benefits of cloud computing. The companys global offering enables customers to choose location and transition to the different regions business demands require. According to the company, with Cloud computing this can be achieved without having to change a single line of code in applications.
The cloud should be in multiple datacenters in order to provide real high availability, redundancy and disaster recovery for users' applications, explained 3Tera, Chairman and CEO, Mr. Barry X Lynn. Furthermore, when those datacenters are dispersed globally, applications can be moved to different geographical locations if and when needed.
3Tera, Inc. bills itself as the innovator of Cloud computing technology and utility computing services". The company has won a couple of awards including Cool Vendor in IT operations, 2008 by Gartner Group and is one of the Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008 by Linux Magazine.
