September 19, 2012 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – The
Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) has officially launched following an introduction video from co-founder and Board Chair Christian Dawson.
A mixture of representatives from Internet infrastructure providers and related tech firms make up the 42 member companies currently affiliated with the newly established organization, which will serve as the "public policy voice of the Internet's infrastructure."
Its mission and goals were stated in the video launch, which claimed that i2Coalition would support the trailblazing enterprises that make significant private investments and drive innovation for the "nuts and bolts" of the Internet.
This includes web hosting providers, registrars and cloud computing services, along with other experts in the field.
Dawson, the opening face of the organization, said: "The i2Coalition will serve as a liaison between its members, the public they serve and policymakers to ensure that the Internet infrastructure industry continues to harness the full potential it has for creating jobs and driving innovation in the United States."
Softlayer, Rackspace and Endurance Internation Group are just three of the group’s charter members that provide leadership for the i2Coalition, which intends to represent the best interests of the public it serves and the industry it represents.
"The services provided by the Internet infrastructure industry are now fundamental in our society. As a group, we have the opportunity not only to help policy, but to help shape the future of the Internet," said David Snead, i2Coalition co-founder and board member.
Among its target audience to educate are policymakers, opinion leaders and the media, as i2Coalition looks to share some of its best practices to the public.
