Drupal Services Provider Acquia Gets New CEO and Offers New CMS Options

| March 7, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Drupal services provider and lead Drupal commercial sponsor Acquia has a new CEO and is now offering new Content Management System (CMS) options, it was revealed recently. Drupal is a popular Open Source (OS) Content Management System (CMS) that is supported by a loyal community. A diverse number of companies including NASA, Sony, MTV and Mozilla use the solution for their websites. Acquia’s new CEO believes his new company can help grow the Drupal community further. Tom Erickson has held the position of Chairman at Acquia since October 2008. He was previously CEO at service-oriented architecture software provider Systinet which was purchased by Mercury Interactive in 2006. He replaces co-founder Jay Batson who moves to a management role. Alongside Erickson's appointment, Acquia has launched a new search service for Drupal websites alongside cloud-based hosting and new Drupal application stacks. "Up until now, much of the focus around Acquia has been on serving the existing, large Drupal community," Erickson was reported as saying. "We believe ... we can now make the community larger and do more outreach to people that are non-Drupal users today." Acquia launched only a year ago with $7 million in venture capital and the objective if providing a “commercially supported version of Drupal”. Acquia’s launch of Drupal Stack Installers aims to make Drupal deploy easier for enterprises. The company is providing the stack for Mac and Windows users, and a Linux version is targeted for release by the end of the year. "We are going to target virtualization, but we will target it together with hardware manufacturers," added Erickson. |
