All-Flash Storage Provider Pure Storage Announces Launch of New AWS-based Cloud Offerings
All-flash storage provider Pure Storage has announced the launch of new Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based cloud offerings. Pure Storage, which has headquarters in Mountain View, California, United States, was established in 2009. The company “helps innovators build a better world with data” by offering solutions that enable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies, cloud service providers, and government bodies and business enterprises the ability to “deliver real-time, secure data to power their mission-critical production, DevOps, and modern analytics environments in a multi-cloud environment”. Its services include cloud computing and enterprise storage options alongside server and desktop virtualization services.

Pure Storage’s latest offerings allow its customers to “invest in a single storage architecture that unifies application deployments on-premises and on the cloud to flexibly turn data into value virtually anywhere”. They aim at addressing customer interest in the agility of a unified hybrid cloud architecture and offering the data strategy required for a hybrid solution. Pure Storage Cloud Data Services offers a new set of capabilities designed to run Pure Storage software on AWS. These include ‘Cloud Block Store for AWS’ - an “industrial-strength block storage”; ‘CloudSnap for AWS’ - a cloud-based data protection offering; and ‘StorReduce’ - a cloud-native deduplication technology.

"Today, there exists a cloud divide - the cloud is not purpose-built for enterprise applications, and enterprise infrastructure isn't as user-friendly as the cloud," explained Pure Storage’s CEO and Chairman, Charles Giancarlo. "Customers should be able to make infrastructure choices based on what's best for their environment, not constrained by what the technology can do or where it lives. Today's announcement extends Pure's data centric architecture to the cloud, allowing our customers to build hybrid applications that provide true mobility and freedom."
