The Carlyle Group to Acquire Spanish Web Host Arsys

December 24, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – The Carlyle Group, a Washington, D.C. based private equity investment firm with in excess of $75.6 billion of equity capital under management, is in partnership with Spanish company Mercapital to purchase equal shares in Spanish Web hosting and domain registration services provider, Arsys (http://www.arsys.es/).

Reports suggest a price tag of around $230 million for the host, while its founders will maintain a minority stake in the company. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval.

Based in Madrid, Arsys manages 550,000 domains, and cater to 170,000 clients and have 250 employees. Fernando Chueca, an Associate Director at Carlyle, is reported as suggesting that Arsys "has huge potential".

Arsys offers a range of web hosting products and services, offering both Linux and Windows options. The company’s basic hosting plan offers 200 MB of web space, 2 GB of transfer, 10 email accounts and unlimited redirections.
