The
Amazon Web Services (AWS) ‘Public Sector Summit’ will take place June 20-21, 2018, the company announced this week. With head offices in Seattle, Washington, United States, AWS is the leader in areas like cloud compute and cloud storage and competes with providers like Microsoft (Azure) and Google (Google Cloud Platform). While the bulk of its customers are service providers and other enterprises, many elements in the US public sector are transitioning to the cloud. This summit, which takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, caters to Public Sector entities.
The ninth annual AWS Public Sector Summit will bring together “global leaders from government, education, and nonprofit organizations” to “learn how to use the cloud for complex, innovative, and mission-critical projects”. The event will also address issues related to cloud transition. It offers “over 100 breakout sessions” which have been organized into “15 tracks including technical and business content, and special topics for the public sector”.
Each of the event’s sessions will be led by AWS experts. Visitors will be able to “take home new strategies and tactics for shaping culture, building new skillsets, saving costs, and achieving (their) mission”. Attendees will also be able to attend summit workout sessions and other networking events. Teresa Carlson, Amazon Web Services’s Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, will also be in attendance.
