Irish Internet Services Company Blacknight Introduces ‘co.nl’ Domain Names

July 4, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Irish internet services company Blacknight has introduced ‘co.nl’ domain names to its suite of offerings, it was reported yesterday. The ‘co.nl’ is aimed at businesses in The Netherlands (Holland), but unlike domains with ‘.nl’ extension, which can only be registered by Dutch legal entities, ‘co.nl’ can be bought by anyone, anywhere in the world.

"Becoming an accredited registrar for .co.nl domain names allows us to give our clients an even wider range of options for registering domain names", explained Michele Neylon, CEO of Blacknight. "It extends the level of service we can offer our clients, making Blacknight Solutions a one-stop shop for all a businesses' internet hosting and domain name requirements."

The new extension was authorized by ICANN in June of this year, and there will be a ‘Sunrise’ period to ensure legitimate distribution. The process begins with ‘.nl’ owners and those with registered trademarks. The ‘Grandfather’ period for existing ‘.nl’ registrants will take place in the third quarter of 2008, while the ‘Registered Trademarks’ period will begin in the fourth quarter of 2008. All applications will be thoroughly reviewed. The ‘Landrush’ phase, when registration is open to everyone, will start at the beginning of 2009.

Blacknight Internet Solutions Ltd provides hosting and co-location to business. The company has its own datacenters in Clondalkin, and Interxion, Dublin, Ireland.
