British web host and ICANN accredited domain registrar
Easyspace is offering customers the ability to pre-register Top-Level Domain (gTLD) names with the upcoming .LONDON extension. The company offers a range of services alongside domain name registration and web hosting. These include email hosting, cloud hosting, virtual servers, dedicated servers and web design.
.London domains will be managed by London and Partners, a promotional body set up by the Mayor of London, through Dot London Domains Ltd., a subsidiary set up for the purpose. iomart, Easyspace’s parent body, intends to launch its own .London web address in the near future.
Pre-registration of .LONDON domains allows customers to choose which domain names they would like to register. Pre-registration is not restricted in any fashion and is available to businesses and individuals alike. However, as could be imagined, businesses and individuals proven to be London-based will be given priority when the domains are allocated. The domains will then be made available to those who are not located in London.
In cases where a single registrant has pre-registered a domain, the domain will be registered in that registrant’s name. The successful registrant will also receive a free email package free for an entire year from Easyspace. In cases where multiple registrants require a particular domain, it will be put up for auction.
“It’s a must for businesses and organisations of all sizes in the Capital to link themselves to one of the greatest cities in the world,” explained Easyspace’s Managing Director, Sarah Haran. “Berlin has already been one of the most successful domain names ever launched and .London promises to be even bigger.”
