UK Cheap Hosts has announced it is offering its customers free SSL certificates “forever”. UK Cheap Hosts, which was established in 2006, bills itself as “the cheapest and most reliable web hosting company in the UK”. The company offers a wide range of hosting plans including Joomla and WordPress hosting options. It prides itself on being “equipped with state-of-the-art systems and tools for optimal performance”. By offering free SSL certificates UK Cheap Hosts enhances security for its customers’ sites and helps them improve their Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
SSL certificates have increased in importance over recent years. They encrypt connections between web browsers and servers, making it considerably more difficult for third parties to hijack a user’s website or server. In addition, Google now makes a distinction between ‘secure’ and ‘insecure’ sites, with SSL certificates being a key factor in whether websites have prominence in search rankings.
Traditionally SSL certificates have cost anywhere between £10 to £250 and need to be renewed annually. UK Cheap Hosts automatically renews customers’ SSL certificates through its cPanelAutoSSL solution. When customers renew their annual hosting packages, they automatically renew their SSL certification. As the company does not charge for SSL certificates, its customers benefit from considerable cost and time savings. UK Cheap Hosts’ SSL certs are provided by the ‘Lets Encrypt’ SSL initiative.
