Web Hosting Provider C I Host Takes Used-Car Salesmanship Approach to Web Hosting
June 14, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting provider C I Host has recently taken a bizarre approach to pricing their web hosting plans. Following a business model that seems to have come straight from the used-car industry C I Host is asking potential customers to figure out what kind of web hosting package you need and then name your own price.
Uhm, how about free?
After submitting your proposal to C I Host they will get back to you within 24 hours to let you know if they accept your proposal or not.
"We want to help individuals and businesses make the most of their dollars," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "Our 'Name Your Own Price' program gives the ability to control their finances and allocate their resources the way they see fit."
Except for the fact that you have to pay for one years worth of service in advance.
With so many web hosts offering extremely cheap hosting plans this would seem to be a very misplaced action in the web hosting market. When given the choice between a very cheap or even a reasonable plan and being forced to submit an offer with out the right to negotiate later, simply a yes or no from C I Host, why would anyone be attracted to this plan? The system works entirely in C I Hosts favor and is an obvious attempt to garner disingenuous profits based on some customers lack of knowledge of web hosting plan prices or lack of negotiating skill.
Heres hoping C I Host will rethink their used-car salesmanship approach to hosting and simply offer the best price and the most services they can.
