Web Hosting Provider C I Host PCI Compliant |
 |
July 13, 2006 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider C I Host (http://www.cihost.com) has announced its servers have been certified as compliant with PCI (Payment Card Industry) standards - a measure seen as integral to the effective provision of credit card payment and guarding against Identity Theft. To become certified the company had to enhance security aspects of its credit card processing systems to meet PCI regulations.
"This is huge for ecommerce sites, which must be able to assure their customers that they can use credit cards safely and not fear that the information they provide might be put to fraudulent use," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "If a business is hosting its data on a server that isn't PCI compliant, the firm's merchant account provider can shut the account down and refuse to allow the firm to take credit cards."
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI Standard) was designed to protect credit card holders from transaction fraud. Major credit cards require providers to comply with the standard, which requires quarterly and annual audits. |
