Carrier-neutral data center services company
Datacenter.com has announced the expansion of its network. Established in 2015, Datacenter.com is noted for buying its domain name for “more than $500,000”. The company has headquarters in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, where it also houses its ISO 14001:2015-accredited and renewable energy-powered ‘AMS1’ data center. Its services include Data Center-as-a-Service (DCaaS) offerings which leverage “advanced infrastructure and innovative services”. The expansion was facilitated by the addition of Cogent Communications (Cogent) to the carrier networks it has available in Amsterdam.
Cogent is a “multinational ‘Tier 1’ Internet Service Provider (ISP)” with a carrier network that encompasses North America, Europe and Asia. The company’s network includes around 57,000 miles of intercity fiber and “more than 31,250 metro fiber miles”. Its services “interconnect with over 6,150 other networks” and are available globally. The opening of a Cogent Point-of-Presence (PoP) in the ASM1 facility will improve Datacenter.com’s ability to meet the redundancy and volume bandwidth requirements of “demanding clients” like cloud providers.

Expanding our footprint in Amsterdam is important to Cogent, as the Amsterdam metropolitan region is an important Internet hub for our clients. Here, Datacenter.com surely is strategically located, in the Amsterdam South-East business district, one of the most fiber-dense areas in the world.”
