Bitcoin is a digital/crypto-currency that has become extremely popular over recent years. The value of bitcoins changes based on complex mathematical formulas and reached a peak of $1,100 per coin in December 2013. The value subsequently dropped and at present the value moves around the $350 per coin mark. The disastrous collapse of MtGox in February 2014 led to some calling Bitcoin a “digital Ponzi scheme”. However, it is now on the brink of being regarded as mainstream, and has customers that include a range of web hosts and major companies like PayPal and Microsoft.
News of the introduction of Bitcoin comes in the wake of NetDepot.com's expansion into a number of areas in the United States, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City.
