Cloud-based Storage Provider Box Acquires BYOD Facilitator Subspace
Cloud-based storage provider Box has acquired Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) facilitator Subspace. Box offers a range of services including secure file sharing, enterprise security and file synchronization and caters to a range of industries including advertising, construction, education, energy and the financial services sectors. The organization also caters for a number of government agencies. The purchase is intended to strengthen Box's BYOD security capability.

Subspace specializes in browser technology that enables users to access content from a range of cloud-based sources that are accessed through business and personal devices. News of the acquisition comes in the wake of Box's launch of cloud storage options for financial services companies. The financial aspects of the deal were not made public but it was disclosed that Subspace’s staff will be absorbed by Box and Subspace will cease trading as a company on April 3, 2015.

“The Subspace team will let us go even deeper with our security and data policies, enabling reliable corporate security policies, even when content leaves the Box platform to be accessed on a customer or partner’s device,” explained Aaron Levie, Box's CEO and co-founder on the company's website.
