iomart is providing a range of cloud services for "guest experience management" company HospitalityGEM. With headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland, iomart leverages partnerships with companies like Asigra, Dell, VMware and Microsoft to deliver private and public cloud platforms alongside hybrid and dedicated solutions underpinned by a "100% uptime guarantee".
HospitalityGEM works in the UK's hospitality industry. It maintains a network of "10,000 mystery diners" who provide feedback on various hospitality outlets (hotels, pubs, restaurants, etc.). This feedback in turn provides content for a range of websites. The solution provided to HospitalityGEM is burstable to 100MB/s and offers cloud backup for in excess of 200GB of data. This enables the company to manage traffic spikes and has helped them make considerable server cost reductions.
“We send in mystery guests to have a typical experience at thousands of restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels across the UK and internationally," explained HospitalityGEM's Head of Technology, Phil Collins. "Our clients often want to be visited at their peak times which are usually over weekends which means we have a massive increase of up to 600% in reports to process on a Monday. Using iomart’s cloud infrastructure allows us to switch on the servers quickly and easily when needed so we can ramp up our capacity to cope with the demand but only pay for the extra time used. This means we’re not wasting money running resources that are underutilized the majority of the time."
