Cloud Computing Company Cirrus Ortho Provides Solutions for the Niche Orthodontic Market
Cloud computing company Cirrus Ortho is offering a range of cloud solutions with a sharp focus on a niche market – the orthodontic industry. The Twin Falls, Idaho-based company, which owns and operates its own data center, caters specifically for orthodontists that are considering moving their office to the cloud but have little idea how to approach the idea.

Unlike Cirrus Ortho, most cloud companies do not own or maintain their own physical equipment. Instead they rent data center space from third party providers. According to Cirrus Ortho’s Executive Vice President of Technology, Rich Straub, this is not something many people in the orthodontic industry are comfortable with.

"I've been in the orthodontic industry for 10 years and have talked to hundreds of orthodontists," suggested Mr. Straub. "None of the doctors I know would be comfortable with that. Since I've also been in the IT industry for more than 15 years, I knew that there had to be a way to offer something different."

Mr. Straub partnered with computer software programmers to create the backbone of Cirrus Ortho, which has a combined orthodontic experience of over fifty years. The company delivers software specifically designed for the orthodontic industry which can be accessed through any vendor via the Internet. In addition, Cirrus Ortho’s options allow users to run programs such as Microsoft Office through their cloud solutions. The company performs data backups on a 24 hour basis, and all data is loaded onto redundant hard disks which are stored in an underground location. The company’s servers are also HIPAA and PCI compliant.
