Cloud Giant Amazon Web Services to Acquire Italian Cloud Computing Provider NICE
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is to acquire Italian cloud computing provider NICE. AWS, which has headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States, is the leading player in the cloud arena, offering a range of services including ‘storage, database, compute, application, analytics, and deployment options’ that ‘help organizations move faster, lower IT costs, and scale applications’. Financial aspects of the acquisition were not released, but it was announced the deal is likely to be completed by the end of the first quarter this year.

NICE, which has headquarters in Asti, Italy, is primarily a software developer and offers a range of user-friendly products and services that include grid and cloud solutions such as Desktop Cloud Visualization. The company caters to companies of a range of sizes and in a number of industries including aerospace, automotive and manufacturing, petroleum, energy and utilities, electronic design and financial services sectors. The company also caters to a number of government and education departments.

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new colleagues at NICE,” explained Chief Amazon Web Services (AWS) Evangelist Jeff Barr in a press release. “We have signed an agreement to acquire this leading provider of software and services for high performance and technical computing”. NICE will continue to operate as a brand and maintain its own team, but the two companies will “work together to create even better tools and services”.
