Cloud Giant AWS to Open New Bahrain Office
Cloud giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) is to open a new office in Bahrain. AWS, which is part of the Amazon Group of companies, has global headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States. The company is the recognized cloud leader with products and services that include compute, storage, databases, analytics, networking, mobile, developer tools, management tools, the Internet of Things (IoT), security and enterprise applications. Its new Bahrain office will be located in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, and open January 1, 2017.

AWS’ Bahrain office has been opened to cater to tech entrepreneurship in the Middle East and to “support organizations of all sizes”, including government organizations. The fact that Bahrain was chosen for the company’s first Middle East office recognizes the “forward thinking” seen in the country’s economy. The office will also facilitate AWS Cloud Training and Global Certification programs to develop cloud skills within Bahrain.

“The Bahrain EDB is committed to helping drive forward the development of a strong and supportive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kingdom,” explained the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB)’s Chief Executive, Khalid Al Rumaihi. “This encompasses a number of areas, including access to finance, education initiatives and regulatory developments, but having the world’s leading cloud computing provider open an office in Bahrain will play a vital role. The AWS team will provide invaluable support to all Bahraini organizations as they move to the cloud.”
