PlexHosted has announced new cloud offerings targeting businesses. The company, which was established in 2010, is located in Jamestown, Rhode Island, USA and offers a range of services including collaboration and email solutions, instant messaging, and SaaS hosting. Its new offerings promise to ensure the cloud is "both practical and affordable to organizations of all sizes".
PlexHosted caters to predominantly smaller sized companies that might find the cost of transition to the cloud prohibitive. The company follows Microsoft’s advice on hardware when providing SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync services, and as a result, its services are fast, efficient, and offer businesses the "productivity they require".
Improvements in PlexHosted's offerings include speedier RAM and a CPU core with a ratio of 1vcpu = 1 physical core. In addition, the offerings benefit from a faster HDD IO speed and a 1GB public and private transfer network. The company "geo-locates" servers in a range of locations including across the United States, Montreal, Toronto, Mexico, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Frankfurt.
PlexHosted's standalone farms start at only $279 per month, while the cost of its two-tier farms start at $628 per month. Its three-tier farms start at $877 and its HA farms begin at only $1,799 per month. These costs include ongoing monitoring services.
