Cloud Infrastructure Company Stratoscale Acquires Database-as-a-Service Provider Tesora
Cloud infrastructure company Stratoscale has acquired Database-as-a-Service (DaaS) provider Tesora. Stratoscale, which has headquarters in Herzliya, Israel, was established in 2013. The company offers a range of products and services including Stratoscale Symphony 3, a solution that “empowers IT (data centers or hyper-converged infrastructure) to create a software-defined data center in minutes”. It enables customers to establish hybrid cloud solutions by transforming on-premises infrastructure into an AWS Region. Financial aspects of its acquisition of Tesora have not been released.

Tesora, which has headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, was “founded with the vision of radically simplifying how databases are provisioned and managed”. It enhances Stratoscale’s database services by enabling DBaaS “from any public, private or hybrid cloud computing platform”. Tesora’s offerings also address market demand for managed noSQL, RDS by offering database services capabilities for an on-prem AWS region. The company’s DBaaS platform provides “self-service provisioning and management” for certified databases that include Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DataStax Enterprise, Couchbase, MariaDB, Percona, PostgresSQL and DB2 Express.

“This acquisition is an important milestone in Stratoscale’s ability to help customers on their journey to the cloud,” explained Stratoscale’s CEO and Founder, Ariel Maislos. “Organizations want to consume Database-as-a-Service in a click-of-a-button. Stratoscale is happy to bring Tesora onboard to make this a reality.”
