Cloud Infrastructure Provider DigitalOcean Recognized as the Second Largest Global Hosting Provider
Cloud infrastructure provider DigitalOcean has been recognized as the second largest global hosting provider. Established in 2011, the company, which has headquarters in New York City, USA, offers a range of products designed to make web infrastructure as simple as possible for software developers to manage. Its new status was recognized in a report by Netcraft, a British company located in Bath, England which monitors the web server and web hosting market.

DigitalOcean has experienced considerable growth over recent years and November 2014 was recognized as being the planet's third biggest provider. It opened its third European data center last month in Frankfurt, Germany. This is the company's 10th data center worldwide.

“We concentrate on providing individual software developers with a fantastic user experience to empower them to build and scale web applications,” explained DigitalOcean's CEO, Ben Uretsky. “It’s a massive market that larger cloud providers aren’t catering to; that’s why we don’t consider big names such as Amazon Web Services to be a competitor. There is a fundamental difference in focus and priorities. At DigitalOcean, we prioritize offering simple solutions for web developers and we are proud to be the second largest web hosting provider in the world.”
