Cloud Platform Provider Host Virtual Opens South American Data Center
Cloud platform provider Host Virtual Inc. has opened a data center in South America. The company, whose headquarters are in Santa Monica, California, USA, bills itself as "one of the 20 most connected ISP's on the planet" and has data centers in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. It is also a "leader in BGP Anycast services". Its first data center in South America is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Brazil has become a hub for BGP Anycast, virtual hosting and cloud IaaS as it offers connections to the whole of South America. Host Virtual's Point of Presence (POP) is located in Sao Paulo at the Equinix data center. This is an extremely well connected data center and boasts robust physical access controls alongside backup power supplies and uninterrupted power sources. Host Virtual's Brazil-based cloud location is "available immediately to all customers" deploying its BGP Anycast platform.

"We're pleased to select Sao Paulo for our first deployment in the area," explained the Senior Vice President of Host Virtual, Sandy Bhargavi. "Our customers have asked us for better connections into South America. They now have a connection into the continent through one of the best locations available in Brazil and they'll experience increased performance into the country and surrounding area through the data center. We anticipate a lot of growth in that region, particularly within Brazil, because of its growing importance in the world."
