Cloud provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of 'AWS Educate'. The company, which was established in 2006, offers a cloud platform for computing, storage, database, analytics, and application deployment. It has a global presence with facilities in the United States, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Ireland, Japan, and Singapore. Its services are utilized by around a million customers worldwide. The AWS Educate scheme aims at offering students at secondary and higher education institutions the skills and training they need to utilize and benefit from cloud computing.
AWS Educate is an attempt to bridge a growing market demand for a workforce that has the skills needed for the cloud technology market. The program will offer participants "hands-on" cloud technology experience alongside a range of resources that will enable institutions to include "cloud-related content" into students' courses. The program will position AWS well as far as access to future cloud computing professionals is concerned.
“For years, the AWS educational grants program has put cloud technology in the hands of educators and students, giving them the ability to put big ideas into action," explained AWS' Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, Teresa Carlson in a company press release. :" We’ve seen students develop assistive computer vision technology in collaboration with the National Federation of the Blind, and aspiring entrepreneurs take a web startup from conception to launch within 60 hours. Based on the feedback and success of our grant recipients and the global need for cloud-skilled workers, we developed AWS Educate to help even more students learn cloud technology firsthand in the classroom. We’re pleased to offer AWS Educate to educators, students and educational institutions around the world.”
