Cloud Services Company NTT Communications Launches Software-defined Networking (SDN)-based Cloud Migration Service
Cloud services company NTT Communications has launched On-premises Connection Service, a Software-defined Networking (SDN)-based cloud migration service, the first such service in the world.

The service is available in Japan from today (July 28, 2013) and will be available later in other parts of the world.

On-premises Connection Service utilizes SDN technology to create a network connecting NTT’s customers’ on-premises infrastructure with its Enterprise Cloud. The solution reduces the workload usually required to establish on-premises networks and after migration users continue to use the same IP address their on-premises systems utilize.

The solution is very secure, encrypting and transferring data between a user’s on-premises systems and NTT’s Enterprise Cloud. Data is transferred at 100 Mbps. The solution allows customers to adjust bandwidth so that large data can be transferred during off-peak hours.

On-premises Connection Service is available with an initial 220,000 yen fee that includes gateway equipment installation costs at the customer’s facilities. There is also a 10,800 yen per day charge with a maximum monthly fee being no more than 223,000 yen.
