Novosco and Ulster University have joined forces to address the skills gap which is holding back the cloud industry. Novosco, which has headquarters in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was established in 1994. The company prides itself on choosing “the most appropriate solutions for each customer's specific needs by leveraging a portfolio of public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud”. It offers a broad range of services including Back up-as-a-Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (BRaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), managed security options and cloud migration services. It also offers Office 365 services. Alongside its Belfast office it has a presence in Manchester, United Kingdom, and Dublin in the Irish Republic. In partnership with Ulster University Novosco organized a five-day ‘Cloud Camp’.
The Novosco Cloud Camp was established in 2016 and is offered to students in Northern Ireland between the ages of 16 and 17. This year’s camp took place at the Belfast headquarters of Novosco and offered input on IT infrastructure and systems development and management. Input was provided by lecturers from Ulster University’s ‘School of Computing’, the university’s ‘Connected Health Innovation Centre’ (CHIC), and Novosco’s own IT engineers. A number of topics were touched on including cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).
