Co-location and Managed Services Provider Qube Networks adds Central London Data Centre Space

April 27, 2007
April 27, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Co-location and managed services provider Qube Networks has added data centre space in central London to “meet increasing customer demand”, the company announced yesterday. According to the company, a number of data centers in London may be approaching capacity overload. With a “sharp increase” in requirements for co-location and managed services in London, Qube Networks quotes “industry analysts” who predict that “London is about to run out of capacity”.

"As the pressure builds on London's data centre space there is clearly a danger of industry temptation as providers try to squeeze more and more from their existing capacity,” explained Qube Networks’ Chief Technical Director Tom Howard. “Any sort of compromise on capacity, power or cooling could quickly lead to ‘rack and ruin’ for customers and providers alike."

According to Qube, Strains on infrastructure have led to the adoption of space-saving blade servers. However, their increased energy and cooling requirements have compounded the problems data centre providers are facing. Qube suggests typical data centers provide around 1kw of power and cooling capabilities per rack. However, a rack of new blade servers often requires up to 15kw of power.

To overcome potential difficulties, Qube Networks has secured 1,600 square feet of Level 3 data centre capacity in addition to its existing 4,000ft square foot private suite. "Qube Networks has built its reputation providing co-location and managed services of the highest standards and we will not compromise on these qualities," explained Mr. Howard. "With the pressures on data centre space in London rising every day, we are delighted to have been able to secure this additional, top quality facility for our customers."
