Computer Technology Corporation Oracle Extends Cloud Offerings
Computer technology corporation Oracle has extended its Cloud offerings with new Oracle Cloud Platform services. The corporation, which has headquarters in Redwood City, California, United States, offers a “comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications and platform services”. Its cloud platform offers a wide range of services that enable “developers, IT professionals, business users and analysts to build, extend and integrate cloud applications” more easily.

The Oracle Cloud Platform integrates on-premise and cloud applications by enabling users to establish and extend applications. It allows users to move “on-premises” workloads directly to the cloud without the need for application changes. The solution also offers access to Oracle’s middleware and database software which is utilized extensively worldwide.

News of the new Oracle Cloud Platform services was delivered by Larry Ellison, the corporation’s CTO and Executive board chairman. With 24 new services available, the Oracle Cloud Platform now offers “the world's broadest and deepest portfolio” of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS services. These services include Oracle Archive Storage Cloud, Oracle Database Cloud - Exadata, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Big Data Cloud, Oracle Process Cloud and Oracle Mobile Cloud. It caters to in excess of 1,800 customers and supports more than 70 million users worldwide. The platform gained a staggering 1,419 new customers in the last quarter, including companies like Avaya and Calix.

"Oracle is growing really fast,” explained Mr.Ellison on the corporation’s website. “We sold $426 million worth of business in SaaS and PaaS last quarter, a 200% increase over the same quarter last year. That's an industry record, no company has ever sold that much in just one quarter. Oracle is the only company on the planet that can deliver a complete, integrated, standards-based suite of services at every layer of the cloud. Those technology advantages enable us to be much more cost-effective than our competitors. Our new Archive Storage service goes head-to-head with Amazon Glacier and it's one-tenth their price."
