March 12, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Consonus Technologies has announced that independent auditor Grant Thornton has completed its second annual SAS 70 Type II audit of the company's managed services and three primary data centers in West Jordan, Utah, West Valley City, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah. Successful completion of the SAS 70 audit confirm the reliability, security, availability, and processing integrity of the IT services Consonus offers through its world-class data centers.
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard for service organizations such as Consonus Technologies to demonstrate that they have adequate controls and processes in place. Specific areas for SAS 70 certification includes organizational controls, application development and maintenance controls, logical security and access controls, application controls, system maintenance controls, data processing controls, and business continuity controls.
In addition to the information contained in a SAS 70 Type I report — whether the service organization's description of its controls presents fairly, in all material respects, the relevant aspects of the service organization's controls and whether the controls are suitably designed to achieve specified control objectives — a SAS 70 Type II report includes detailed testing of the organization’s controls, as well as the auditor’s opinion as to whether those controls are sufficient in meeting the organization’s objectives.
