The company originally began to plan its green, or environmentally friendly, hosting initiative in July, 2007. With the assistance of Carbon Neutral, Crucial Paradigm Australia has begun to offset unavoidable carbon emissions by planting trees in Coomberdale, Australia. So far over 160 trees have been planted under the program, offsetting 28 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The trees help preserve wildlife and recapture atmospheric CO2, which is then converted into oxygen.

To determine the number of trees to be planted, Crucial Paradigm Australia uses a carbon-emissions calculator. It includes various sources of emissions, such as electricity usage, staff emissions, vehicles and general running of the office. Additionally, the company will plant one tree for every new hosting account signed up.
