Data Center and Cloud Solutions Company DataBank Acquires Managed Cloud Hosting Provider Edge Hosting

Data center and cloud solutions company DataBank, Ltd. (DataBank) has acquired managed cloud hosting provider Edge Hosting. DataBank, which has headquarters in Dallas, Texas, United States, was established in 2005. The company’s services extend to collocation alongside compliance and consulting options. A Digital Bridge Holdings company, the financial aspects of DataBank’s acquisition of Edge Hosting have not been released.
Edge Hosting, which has headquarters in Baltimore, United States, was established in 1998. The company specializes in designing and operating “secure and compliant” Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) managed cloud hosting options. The company’s services offer FedRAMP, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI, SSAE 16/18 SOC 2 Type II and EU Privacy Shield Frameworks compliance and provide a “sophisticated portal that includes real time analytics on performance, advanced security controls, and compliance”. DataBank’s acquisition of Edge Hosting will serve to extend the geographical footprint of its service offerings.
“DataBank is force-multiplier for us,” explained Edge Hosting’s CEO Vlad Friedman on the company’s blog. “The diverse client-base of large enterprise accounts, a large national footprint of top-tier data center facilities, and the complementary skillset of their engineering and support staff, opens new doors for the Edge team and our customers. I am very excited about the direction and scale we’ll be able to achieve together.” Vlad Friedman will transition to become the Chief Technology Officer of DataBank and lead product development and the technical roadmap for the combined company”.
