Data center, cloud and managed IT services provider
BMIT has announced it is building a new data center. A “one-stop technological solution to its customers”, BMIT has headquarters in Qormi, Malta and was established in 2003. The company is Malta’s leading provider and “a leading data center services provider of its kind in Europe”. It has access to facilities across Malta and in around 25 cities European cities. With a strong focus on hosting and colocation offerings, the company also offers cloud services and Iaas/Saas options alongside managed services, iGaming hosting, and a number of Microsoft-based solutions such as SharePoint, Exchange, and Azure. The cost of BMIT’s new data center is reportedly €10 million ($11.28 million).
BMIT’s newest data center will be built in Żejtun in the South Eastern Region of Malta. It will be “fully certified to Tier 3 standards by the Uptime Institute” and offer 400 racks. The construction of the facility underpins the company’s position as the island state’s multi-site data center leader. Work is currently underway and completion is expected in 2020. The center comes in the wake of BMIT’s recent investment in a new data center and international network in Smart City Malta.
“This investment is another step in our efforts to continue providing our customers and potential clients with even more services in what will be one of the best equipped facilities on the island,” explained BMIT’s CEO, Christian Sammut. “It is BMIT’s objective to continue building on its successes to simplify IT for customers, provide new and enhanced services and also increase the value to its shareholders”.
