Data Center Company BYTEGRID Acquires Carrier Neutral Facility in Georgia
Northern Virginia-based data center company BYTEGRID has acquired a data center in Alpharetta, Georgia. The 77,322 sq. ft. center is a carrier neutral facility and was purchased from a real estate investment trust. The facility is already occupied by a Fortune 500 software and services company, and the present occupant will remain in the facility under a long-term lease. BYTEGRID plans to expand the facility by another 100,000 square feet and continue catering to government, business and service providers with a power capacity in excess of 15 megawatts.

BYTEGRID’s purchase is a continuation of its policy of acquiring, developing and operating data centers throughout the United States. The company aims to provide highly secure and reliable wholesale data center facilities on a national basis. Its purchase in Alpharetta, Georgia comes on the heels of its expansion and infrastructure development at a 214,000 sq. ft. data center in Silver Spring, Maryland earlier in 2012.

BYTEGRID’s Silver Spring center is the largest multi-tenant data center facility in the state and caters to range of high profile companies, including a Fortune 15 financial services company. Through the Maryland data center, BYTEGRID manages the company’s IT infrastructure, which facilitates trillions of dollars of financial transactions on a daily basis.

The company’s purchase in Alpharetta sees it establishing a strong presence in greater Atlanta - Southeast America’s economic hub. The company intends to further expand its footprint in the region to complement its Mid-Atlantic presence.
