Managed IT Services Provider DataPipe to Sponsor New York City BSD Conference

October 2, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Managed IT services provider DataPipe (http://www.datapipe.com) is to sponsor the New York City BSD Conference (http://www.nycbsdcon.org/2008), it was announced yesterday. The event, which is billed as “the main technical conference on the East Coast for the BSD community to collaborate, learn, and network”, takes place October 11-12, 2008 at Columbia University in the USA.

"Strategic partnership with the BSD community is a natural fit for us and we're pleased to be part of this significant event," explained Michael Parks, CTO of DataPipe. “DataPipe has been moving many of its internal systems to FreeBSD to take advantage of the superior performance and better security afforded by the platform."

The two-day event caters to BSD User enthusiasts, System Administrators, and Developers, who will “hear from leading BSD developers and practitioners” which include Matthew Dillon, the developer of the HAMMER file system and DragonFly BSD project director, alongside developer of the ZFS file system Pawel Jakub Dawidek, and Michael Lucas the creator of Absolute FreeBSD and Absolute OpenBSD.

Founded in 1998 and with headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA, DataPipe offers application management, hosting, professional services, and security services, catering to “mid to large-sized organizations in a range of vertical industries”. The company operates six data centers and is present in the United States, the United Kingdom, and China. The company caters to over 1500 customers.
