DDoS Mitigation Services Provider Black Lotus Acquires 8×8 Inc.'s Managed Hosting Division
DDoS mitigation services provider Black Lotus has acquired 8×8 Inc.'s managed hosting division, as suggested in a recent blog post by Jeffrey Lyon, Black Lotus' president. The cost of the acquisition was $3 million dollars, as suggested by a recent company press release. 8×8’s core business is VoIP and the company provides a HIPAA and HITECH compliant, PBX VoIP hosted Virtual Office phone service.

The acquisition gives Black Lotus POPs (points of presence) in Santa Clara, California and Ashburn, Virginia, which Black Lotus will maintain after the acquisition is completed. The company also plans to extend its network across the United States.

Black Lotus provides DDoS mitigation services to a range of providers, including OnApp, and to a range of companies of different sizes. Its hosting services offer “native protection” and are driven through the company's downtown Los Angeles data center in One Wilshire.

“We are eager to get to know our new customers and look forward to serving your critical business needs,” Lyon said. “We’ll begin by reaching out to each customer to learn about your requirements and seek opportunities to improve quality of service.”
