Dell to Cater to China’s Entrepreneurs with a $125 Billion Investment
Dell is to cater to China’s entrepreneurs with a $125 billion investment over the next five years. Through Dell Ventures the company, recognized as the third largest Personal Computer manufacturer globally, aims to support China’s start-ups, particularly those operating in the cloud computing, cloud storage, big data, security and mobility arenas. The company will also cater to those involved in data centers.

The Chinese market is second only to the United States’ market for Dell. The company’s new strategy – known as “In China, for China” – was announced recently by Michael Dell, Dell’s CEO. In his press release Mr. Dell outlined the company’s plans to support China’s Government-supported “Massive Entrepreneurship and Innovation by All” and “Internet+” policies. Potentially, Dell will extend its research and development center for end-to-end solutions to help China cater for its growing technology needs.

“China and the United States are among the countries where the information industry is developing the fastest, resulting in the most vibrant enterprises,” suggested Mr. Dell’s press release. “The Internet is the new engine for China’s future economic growth and has unlimited potential. Being an innovative and efficient technology company, Dell will embrace the principle of ‘In China, for China’ and closely integrate Dell China strategies with national policies in order to support Chinese technological innovation, economic development and industrial transformation.”
