Corporation Service Company (CSC) has acquired
Digital Brand Services (DBS). DBS, a division of Melbourne IT, whose services include domain name, domain name portfolio management and brand protection offerings, will now operate under the name CSC Digital Brand Services.
The purchase means that CSC Digital Brand Services' domain name and online services are now available on "six continents" and the purchase preempts what many suggest is the biggest change the domain name industry has seen since the introduction of top-level domains (TLDs) - the launch of a vast range of new Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) in the coming months. CSC Digital Brand Services will enable companies to purchase domain names under around one-third of all new gTLDs.
