Domain registrar and web host CentralNic Group PLC (
CentralNic) has acquired domain name provider GlobeHosting Inc. (GlobeHosting). CentralNic has headquarters in London, United Kingdom alongside a New York office and a presence in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established in 1995, the company offers a range of services including premium name and domain brokerage services. It also offers a large number of TLDs, ccTLDs, gTLDs, and new TLDs. CentralNic’s acquisition of GlobeHosting is reported to have cost $3.48 million (EUR 3 million).
GlobeHosting, which has headquarters in Delaware, United States, offers a range of hosting and domain registration services with a focus on the Romanian and Brazilian markets. The company’s before tax revenue last year was $985,400 (EUR 849,000). The acquisition was self-financed by CentralNic and comes on the heels of its acquisition of KeyDrive SA (also a web host and domain name provider) for $55 million in August.
"GlobeHosting plugs very easily into CentralNic's business operations and enhances the quality of the group's earnings,” explained Ben Crawford, CEO of CentralNic. “The transaction adds to CentralNic's access to the Romanian and Brazilian markets, which each exhibit attractive characteristics for sustained growth, as well as taking advantage of the upselling capabilities and economies of scale that CentralNic brings to the companies it acquires."
