Dotster Offers Blogging Web Hosting Packages
October 6, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH) – Dotster, Inc. announced this week it has signed an agreement with DotPH Technologies, Inc. to offer their Calliope web-based blog creation tool in a series of web hosting packages geared towards ‘blog-minded individuals’. After reviewing various blog tools Dotster chose Calliope’s web-based interface because it was accessible to all levels of Internet user, including complete beginners.
"Our hosting packages have always included complementary blogging capabilities, but users needed some knowledge of a coding language like PHP or ASP to take advantage of them," said Erin O'Connell, Dotster's senior marketing manager for premium managed services. "By offering Calliope as an option, every Dotster customer can participate in the self-publishing revolution with an individual, highly customized blog."
The Calliope interface will allow Dotster’s customers to post and save blogs as drafts, submit entries via e-mail, post photos and thumbnails and video galleries, and add and manage comments, categories, and tagboards. It will also include a design editor to allow users to customize entries, RSS syndication and "plug and play" integration with applications such as Yahoo Messenger, IM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Skype, FWD, Friendster, SMS, and text-messaging.
