Dutch Datacenter Company Switch Datacenters Becomes Incubator for Energy-efficient Data Center Technologies
Dutch datacenter company Switch Datacenters has become an incubator for energy-efficient data center technologies. The company has launched the "Data Center of the Future Program" and its state-of-the-art, energy-efficient Data Center in Amsterdam, Netherlands has become a testing ground for new energy saving technologies.

Local schemes like Green IT Amsterdam have ensured considerable focus has been put on establishing the best approaches to energy saving in the IT arena. Switch Datacenters’ new program aims to advance existing efforts by testing a range of new technologies to establish whether they as a company should implement them or not. Their aim is to test technologies alongside each other to establish the best possible comparison and where certain technologies might complement each other.

The company is particularly concerned with data center cooling technologies as they, more than other technologies, offer considerable scope for energy saving. “From the perspective of corporate social responsibility we are keen to ensure that our data center in the Amsterdam region makes a significant contribution towards further energy savings in the data center market,” explained Switch Datacenters’ Technical Director, Gregor Snip. “Furthermore, as a data center firm, we are keen to establish a pioneering position both in the field of energy efficiency and the application of green data center technologies,” he added.

The company’s own research and development department will be in charge of the program, while Dutch Public Relations agency KINXX PR is onboard to promote the program. Their aim is present Switch Datacenters’ program in a fashion that would encourage companies to participate as technology partners.
