Eircom Offers Euro 100,000 Fund and Broadband and Web Hosting Assistance to Find the Next Web 2.0 Stars

November 23, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Irish broadband company Eircom (http://www.eircom.net/) is offering a fund of Euro 100,000 and broadband and web hosting assistance to find the next Web 2.0 stars, it was announced recently.

The fund is seeking new web applications in nine categories that include social networking, web search and online advertising. Those wishing to submit concept applications must do so before December 3, 2007.

“The aim of the fund is to incubate creative and innovative web application development at the grassroots in Ireland,” explained Eircom Retail’s Managing Director, Cathal Magee. “The establishment of the fund is a clear signal of Eircom’s outward approach to innovation. The company must be well positioned to maintain its leadership position as the next wave of web services is introduced.”

Eircom will pick four of the submitted concepts, develop them, and possibly submit them to the Eircom.net platform. The winners will be given business development training and advice by Enterprise Ireland. They will also receive assistance marketing and advertising their service and receive six-month funding after service launch.
