Enterprise IT Provider Cisco Completes Acquisition of Security and Network Performance Company Lancope
Enterprise IT provider Cisco Systems, Inc. (Cisco) has completed its acquisition of security and network performance company Lancope, Inc. (Lancope). Cisco, which has headquarters in San Jose, California, United States, is a globally recognized brand that specializes in networking equipment. The company paid $452.5 million for Lancope in a deal that included cash and stock payments. The move greatly enhances Cisco’s network security capability.

Lancope, which has headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia, United States, provides services that extend to context-aware security analytics which make threats visible. The company will be absorbed by Cisco's Security Business group and operate under the group’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, David Goeckeler. Cisco will adopt Lancope’s network visibility solutions and threat analysis as part of its “Security Everywhere” strategy. Its customers will now be able to detect potential security threats more effectively.

“As enterprises digitize, security challenges rapidly evolve. Real time visibility and understanding of the behavior of every machine or device on the network becomes critical in adapting the ability of enterprises to identify and respond to the next wave of cyber threats,” explained the Vice President of Cisco Corporate Development, Rob Salvagno in a press release when the deal was announced in October. “Cisco is committed to helping organizations defend their networks and devices. Together with Lancope, our combined solutions can help turn a customer’s entire network into a security sensor.”
