Environmentally Friendly Web Host GreenGeeks Announces Amsterdam Data Center
Award winning environmentally friendly web host GreenGeeks has announced the launch of a new data center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. GreenGeeks has global headquarters in Agoura Hills, California, United States but also has a worldwide presence. Established in 2007, the company focuses on cloud-based hosting services that have little impact on the environment because they are powered by renewable energy. Its Amsterdam Data Center will also be powered by renewable energy.

GreenGeeks caters to customers in around 150 countries and its Amsterdam-based center will enable the company to cater to its European customers with services that include green energy-powered shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated hosting options alongside WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and other Open Source (OS) Content Management Solution (CMS) hosting options. The company is planning to launch more data centers in Europe and also establish facilities in Asian markets. It already has “three existing locations already established in North America”.

“Thousands of our customers are in Europe, and it was only natural for us to begin to roll out our hosting services with the launch of our shared hosting in Amsterdam,” explained GreenGeeks Chief Operating Officer, Kaumil Patel. “A data center in Europe allows customers from this continent to enjoy local hosting benefits such as privacy laws, lower latency for faster page loads and search engine optimization. Giving our customers the ability to host locally is what sets us apart from some of the other web hosting providers in our space,” he added.
