October 25, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Eric Schmidt, the Chief Executive of Google, has endorsed Barack Obama for the US Presidency, it was announced recently. Mr. Schmidt, who has been acting as an advisor to Mr. Obama, will be actively involved in Mr. Obama’s campaign during the run up to the election and appear with him in a number of campaign meetings.

Schmidt has for a longtime been involved with the Democratic party, and was involved in fundraising activities on behalf of Al Gore in 2000. He is known to be a keen advocate of Mr. Obama’s proposed energy policies. Google’s official line is that the company is neutral as far as the Presidential race is concerned.

The Wall Street Journal has speculated that Mr. Schmidt may fill the Chief Technology Officer position Mr. Obama suggested he would add to his cabinet, although Google has denied this.
