European Internet Company United Internet Agrees to Takeover Cloud Host ProfitBricks

European internet company United Internet AG (United Internet) has agreed to takeover cloud host ProfitBricks GmbH (ProfitBricks). United Internet, which has headquarters in Montabaur, Germany, was established in 1988. The company is the umbrella organization for a large number of hosting and domain brands including 1&1, GMX, WEB.DE, mail.com, 1&1 Versatel, Strato, Arsys, Fasthosts, InterNetX and united-domains.
ProfitBricks was established in 2010 and has headquarters in Berlin, Germany. The company was the first to offer Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) in Germany and has around 120 staff. Its services include public and hybrid cloud solutions that address the data privacy restrictions of Germany and the EU. It has data centers in Germany and the United States. United Internet has held a stake in ProfitBricks for around seven years and will acquire thge company in its entirety.
"The products and services of ProfitBricks are an ideal fit for our own product portfolio of cloud solutions and will enable us to attract clients seeking a bespoke and professional cloud infrastructure,” explained United Internet’s CEO Ralph Dommermuth. “I am also delighted to welcome Achim Weiss, a former 1&1 Management Board member, to our management team," he added.
