Web Hosting Provider FastServers.Net Avoids cPanel Vulnerability Exploit
September 29, 2006 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider FastServers.Net (http://www.fastservers.net) has avoided the impact of cPanel vulnerability exploitation by completing an update which secured more than 900 cPanel servers in less than 48 hours.
The web hosting community became aware of the exploit on September 23, 2006. FastServers immediately began the process of updating its managed dedicated servers, patching over 70 servers in less than 18 hours. ''It was important that we quickly assemble a team to insure the security of our managed clients, as this exploit could have led to servers being compromised and potential data loss and embarrassment for the server operators, explained Matt Doyle, Director of West Operations for FastServers.Net. I am very pleased with our security response teams ability to provide what I consider record-breaking deployment of the patch.''
FastServers.Net has operated using cPanel since 1997 and offered managed dedicated servers since 2001. The company currently manages over 2,500 dedicated servers through datacenters in Cedar Falls and Fremont, California.
