April 10, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Kate Craig-Wood, the founder of web hosting company Memset (http://www.memset.com), has been shortlisted in the “BlackBerry Women and Technology Awards” (http://www.blackberrywomentechnologyawards.com), it was reported recently. The Guildford, UK-based entrepreneur was named as a finalist in the “Best Use of Technology by a Woman in Small to Medium Business” category of the awards. Winners of the awards will be announced at The Marriott Grosvenor Square, London, UK on Tuesday May 6, 2008.

Leveraging a range of Open Source solutions to promote internal efficiency, Memset offers dedicated hosting and “Miniserver” Virtual Machines, which the company bills as “the UK’s first virtual server solution that gives customers truly dedicated resources and all the benefits of a normal server without needing an entire modern, powerful machine.”

”I am delighted to be a finalist in the BlackBerry Women & Technology Awards,” explained Ms. Craig-Wood. “The IT industry is suffering badly from a shortage of women, and these awards really help to change this, by highlighting the important contributions that women are making. I think that my focus on green IT is perhaps what made my entry stand out, and again I'm thrilled that my commitment to championing the cause of energy efficient technology is being recognized.”

The first Carbon Neutral ISP in the UK, Memset has been noted for power saving initiatives implemented in its data center. The company was voted best UK Web Host in 2006 by PC Pro readers. The company also won Surrey's Innovation in Business award. Established in November 2002, the company offers flexible dedicated server packages alongside virtual dedicated server systems. Ms. Craig-Wood’s aim with the company is to make Memset “the UK's leading utility computing provider”.
