Game Services Provider Keywords Acquires Cloud Software Platform GetSocial
Game services provider Keywords Studios Plc (Keywords) has acquired cloud software platform GetSocial. Keywords has head offices in Dublin, Ireland, and has offices across the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, the United States, Russia, and in South America and Asia. The company offers “a global services platform for video games and beyond”, acting as an external development and technical services provider for its partners. Financial aspects of its acquisition of GetSocial have not been released.
With headquarters in The Hague, South Holland, GetSocial is a “cloud-based mobile acquisition and engagement platform that empowers any mobile app developer”. The solution enables interaction between game players and other networks and provides tools that “maximize user acquisition, engagement, and retention”. Compatible with Android, iOS, and a number of other platforms, GetSocial supports interactions on social media and messaging platforms that include Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Line, Kakao Hangouts, and Kik. GetSocial's 12 engineers and its technology will be absorbed by Keywords.

"As part of the Group, GetSocial will work alongside both our engineering and marketing services teams," suggested Andrew Day, the CEO of Keywords. "It will be fully supported by our worldwide sales team in introducing these capabilities to Keywords' game developer and publisher clients globally, for whom technology that supports social sharing is an important part of attracting and retaining gamers."
